The Task Group (TG)- Baguio together with the Local Government Unit of Baguio conducted a Send-Off Ceremony of troops to be deployed to conduct Community Support Program (CSP) in the city held at the Multipurpose Hall, Baguio City Hall on 17 November 2022.

The Ceremony was graced by Hon. Peter Fianza, City Councilor and Committee on Human Rights who represented Hon. Benjamin Magalong, City Mayor; Hon. Levy Lloyd Orcales, President, SK-Federation; Ms Millicent Cariño, City Director, DILG; COL CHRISTOPHER SAB-IT (MNSA) PA, Commander, TG-Baguio; LTC DOMINADOR VALERIO PA, Deputy Commander, TG-Baguio; and PLTCOL MICHELLE PAULINE BAGAYAO, Chief, City Community Affairs and Development Unit, Baguio City Police Office.

DILG City Director Millicent Cariño in her statement said that the AFP-PNP, the City Government of Baguio, and other concerned agencies converged to address the issues that are being exploited by the Communist Group to deceive the youth sector and raise armed recruits that will destroy the prosperity and peace of the community.

“The CSP, in line with the mandate of EO70, will serve as the bridge for the rebel group to understand the message of peace through their families and communities. We thank our TG-Baguio for their unselfish service and commitment,” Cariño added.

The CSP Teams, which consisted of AFP and PNP Personnel will conduct an Information Education Campaign (IEC) and Symposium including CSP-related activities at all levels of educational institutions in partnership with Dep-Ed- CAR and CHED-CAR as stated in the Resolution of CSP for Youth Sector signed by City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.

After the Pledge of Commitment of the members of the CSP Teams, the City Officials together with the heads of TG-Baguio signed the ‘Acceptance of CSP for Youth Sectors’.

In his response, COL SAB-IT also reiterated that the CSP Team will strictly adhere to the provisions of International Humanitarian Law, Respect Human Rights, and follow the Rule of Law.

“We have many examples of people deceptively recruited by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and for once, let us look for ways to stop this activity. We assure the City and its officials and the citizens of Baguio that we will work in accordance with the Law as we have been doing in the past,” COL SAB-IT added.

Meanwhile, Councilor Fianza emphasized during his message that together with the other City Council of Baguio City, they have also expressed their utmost support to the CSP for Youth Sector under the AFP and PNP. “We need to invest in the Youth now. As stewards of Baguio, we have to create a legacy that they can pass on to the next generation.”

CSP is one of the tools in bringing back the people to the folds of the government and preventing the infiltration of the Communist-Terrorist Groups (CTGs) who have been deceiving everybody for decades posing as an ordinary individuals but destroying the lives of everyone they have deceived.

Anchored along with the efforts of Executive No. 70 or the “Whole-of-Nation-Approach”, this program also empowers the community with the help of the government forces together with the Local Government and other agencies that show the good collaboration to address the different challenges to achieve peace and development.# (PR)
