Baguio athletes lauded for retaining CARAA crown
City officials recently congratulated and commended the delegation of Baguio City for maintaining its reign as the powerhouse of regional sports in the just concluded 2024 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) held at Payanan, Luna, Apayao.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the local government recognizes the athletes, coaches and supporters for their unwavering commitment and efforts in achieving the said significant milestone and for bringing honor and glory once again to the city.
Further, the council claimed that their countless hours of training, sacrifices and dedication are well paid off and are worthy of commendation, especially from upcoming athletes.
Earlier, Baguio City had been emerging victorious in the regional sports meet since 2017 and continuously dominated the golden spot up to last year.
In the 2024 CARAA meet, Baguio City, among the eight contenders, once again ranked first place maintaining its reign as the powerhouse of regional sports as seen based on the results of the aforesaid competition.
The city’s elementary delegation garnered 85 gold, 35 silver and 19 bronze medals while the secondary delegation bagged 153 gold, 76 silver and 53 bronze medals having an overall combined medal haul of 238 gold, 111 silver and 72 bronze medals.
The body recognized the dedication, hardwork and exceptional talent displayed by the elementary and secondary athletes who represented the city with pride and determination, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship in various competitions in the said regional sports meet. – Dexter A. See
