Another 911 prank caller issues apology
Another prank caller publicly apologized for making numerous malicious calls to the Baguio City Emergency 911 hotline.
Alvaro Calub, in a Facebook post on Feb. 16, 2023, expressed remorse for the careless calls and vowed not to repeat the deed.
Calub was one of the two prank callers charged with unjust vexation and violation of Presidential Decree 1727 by Baguio City Command Center employees Dan Michael Ocampo and Juanito Areola last March 23, 2022.
Both were subjected to court-administered mediation processes ending in compromise agreements including the issuance of a public apology among other conditions.
The other offender had issued an apology earlier.
The complainants in their affidavits said they received over a hundred “mischievous and irritating phone calls” from a telephone number traced to Calub and these continued despite the warning given through a text blast.
“With the numerous malicious prank calls initiated by (Calub), we felt irritated and intimidated considering the number of calls he did. Because of (this), we are so unjustly annoyed and irritated. He just intentionally calls without saying anything distressing us and causing disturbance to our minds,” they said.
“Kami ay taos pusong humihingi ng tawad sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Baguio at sa pangkalahatang publiko para sa walang ingat at pabirong pagtawag sa 911 hotline. Hindi namin intension na seryosohing takutin ang publiko o ang gobyerno o saktan sila sa anumang paraan,” the two offenders wrote.
“Ngayon napagnilaynilayan namin, kinikilala namin na ang aming nagawa ay hindi tama. Naiintindihan naming ngayon na ang paggamit o pagtawag sa 911 emergency hotline ay nararapat lamang gamitin o tawagan tuwing emergency. Muli taos puso kaming humihingi ng paumanhin sa hindi pag-iingat sa aming mga aksyon;
“Makatitiyak at makakasiguro kayong hindi na ito mauulit at nanunumpa kami na gagamitin o tatawagan lamang ang 911 hotline sa tuwing may emergency o kapag talagang nangangailangan kami ng agarang tulong.” – Aileen P. Refuerzo
