Annual health consultations in Baguio schools proposed

City officials recently earnestly requested the Department of Educationโ€“Division of City Schools to conduct annual general health consultations and assessments for learners and school personnel in the city.

Under Resolution No. 690, series of 2023, local legislators stated that with the increasing rate of vulnerability among learners, the schools being the second home, must guarantee each learner is given sufficient security and importance, especially in their holistic welfare.

During the Scout Official for a Day (SOFAD) session held on October 23, 2923, the SOFAD Council adopted the proposal of SOFAD Councilor Raven F. Sobrimente that urged the Department of Education to conduct monthly general health consultations and assessments to learners and school personnel in the city.

The State gives priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture, and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development.

Further, the State also protects and promotes the right to health of the people and instill health consciousness among them.

The council claimed that the wellbeing of learners and school personnel is of paramount importance in ensuring a conducive and healthy educational environment.

According to the resolution, the city, being branded as the center of education of the north, guarantees that every learner or student is healthy and mentally tough while continuously getting the quality education that each child deserves.

Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned offices for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. – Dexter A. See
