Agricultural entrepreneur commended
Baguio-born Iloisa Romaraog-Diga who directly bridged farmers with shopper/consumers through her brainchild innovation; online platform “Session groceries” was commended through a city resolution during last Monday’s flag raising ceremonies.
She earlier received the prestigious Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) 2021 national award for agricultural entrepreneurship, as organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) to “honor and recognize exceptional young men and women demonstrating excellence in their chosen field.”
The award is for 18-40 year olds who inspired positive change for a greater part of the community and worked for the welfare of the country. Romaraog-Diga chose to trailblaze the technological concept of online platform “for consumers to choose and handpick locally harvest commodities, while supporting local agribusiness and is convenient for farmers, cost-efficient, quick and convenient.”
She showed selfless service, genuine concern and love for community, at the same time, connected business and advocacy; Romaraog-Diga was introduced by Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda during last Monday’s simple ceremonies; with Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Vice-Mayor Faustino Olowan and the councilors presenting the city resolution.
In 2018, with a glut of harvest when farmers leave tons of vegetables to rot in their gardens while prices are sky-high in commercial areas, Romaraog-Diga helped sell the products directly; a farm-to- table-concept.
Recognizing her concern and efforts for the betterment of a greater population, she was accorded the entrepreneur awards by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB); Operating Model Master Finalist by the IDC Digital transformation award; Gawad Pilipino by Mang Inasal; Epic awardee by the Philippine Academy Specialist, all in 2019.
In 2021 she was awarded the 2021 Productivity Olympic Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board -CAR.
