After fatal accident, motorcycle riders urged to observe defensive driving, speed limit
The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) advised motorcycle riders to observe defensive driving and speed limits at all times to avoid causing or becoming victims of road accidents.
At the same time, the BCPO will intensify monitoring and implementation of traffic rules along critical roads in the city.
This after a food delivery rider died after figuring in a road accident involving a ten-wheeler truck along the highway at Upper Purok Pidawan, Loakan Proper last Feb. 28, 2023.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong sought enhanced engagements with riders and stricter implementation of speed limits along the highways and roads in the city to prevent similar incidents.
BCPO City Director PCol. Francisco Bulwayan Jr. in his report said Traffic Enforcement Unit personnel met with the food delivery company where the victims were employed to solicit the management’s support in reminding and encouraging their drivers to observe defensive driving and to follow traffic rules at all times.
The TEU under PMaj Zacarias Dausen also coordinated with personnel of the BCPO Station 4 for the conduct of aggressive checkpoint activities along the road and to apprehend overspeeding vehicles including motorcycles traversing along Loakan Road
Joint operations with the Land Transportation Office will also be conducted regularly along identified areas in the city to monitor and address similar problems on overspeeding and traffic violations. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
