ABRA COPS ARREST TWO INDIVIDUALS FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF LOOSE FIREARMS

The implementation of search warrants by the Abante cops of the Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) led to the arrest of two individuals for illegal possession of loose firearms in separate operations conducted in the province of Abra on July 16, 2024.

Based on reports submitted by the Officer-in-Charge Provincial Director, PCOL JEREMIAS G OYAWON, the suspects were identified as a 35-year-old male and a 60-year-old male who are both residents of Abra.

The same report disclosed that the 35-year-old suspect was arrested by the joint operatives of San Quintin Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO), and Regional Intelligence Unit 14 (RIU-14) operatives discovered and confiscated one caliber.38 revolver, nine live ammunition for a caliber.38, three live 12-gauge ammunition, and two calibers.22 rifle airguns at his residence at Sitio Purok, Brgy. Villa Mercedes, San Quintin.

Meanwhile, the 60-year-old suspect was arrested by operatives of the Bucay MPS after the implementation of a search warrant yielded a caliber of.38 in his residence in Brgy. Patoc, Bucay.

The marking and inventory of the pieces of evidence seized were done onsite in the presence of the suspects, witnessed by barangay officials.

Furthermore, the suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought into the custody of the operating unit for proper documentation and disposition. The suspects will separately face charges for violations of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act.
