ABRA COPS ARREST AN INDIVIDUAL FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM
The Abante cops of the Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested an individual in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Bangued, Abra, on July 15, 2024.
According to Abra PPO, the suspect, a 44-year-old male resident of Brgy Bangbangcag, Bucay, was arrested by the police officers of the 1st Abra Provincial Mobile Force Company during a regular checkpoint conducted in Brgy Lipcan, Bangued.
Reports revealed that during the checkpoint, the suspect, who was on board a motorcycle, was asked by police officers to present his driver’s license. While he was opening his backpack, a firearm was revealed, prompting the police officers to ask for the pertinent documents of the said firearm, which the suspect failed to present, resulting in his arrest and the confiscation of the firearm.
The seized firearm was identified as an Armscor caliber .45 pistol with two magazines loaded with 10 live rounds of ammunition.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bangued Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition. At the same time charges for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are now filed against him. (PRO-CAR PIO/ File Photos))
