About 190 Wells Fargo employees repair homes, beautify Humanity Ville
Welcome Home, Volunteers! Wells Fargo Volunteer Engagement Activity
(Calauan, Laguna) Despite the scorching heat, our steadfast partner in improving lives through decent shelter, Wells Fargo Philippines, mobilized its employees to help repair houses and improve the multipurpose center, playground, and community garden at the Humanity Ville community.
Between September 9 and 23, 192 employees participated in the volunteer engagement activity and clocked in 800 volunteer hours, as part of Wells Fargo’s enterprise-wide ‘Welcome Home’ campaign. Some of the activities involved concrete floor chipping, painting, gardening and planting, cement mixing, sand-sieving, excavation, and minor carpentry work.
“The people who do this construction work are experts in their field. So, for us, to experience it firsthand was quite different,” said Mark Anthony Carpio, Wells Fargo’s Marketing Associate Manager, who helped repair the door of a home. “I hope to participate in more activities and I would like to encourage everyone to volunteer. Shoveling, being under the heat of the sun, and having that sense of fulfillment is different from just seeing it on TV or reading about it on social media.”
Binibining Pilipinas International 2022 and Habitat Philippines’ advocate Nicole Borromeo also participated in the activity and had the chance to interact with the children in the community.
“It was a very fulfilling experience. Not only did we get to help out with gardening, repainting the playground, and even upgrading the hall, but I also got to witness how the community came together because they saw the value of taking pride and caring for the place they call home,” said Borromeo.
Wells Fargo’s volunteering activity helped in getting six houses repaired and contributed toward improving the community facilities serving 650 families at Humanity Ville.
The Welcome Home campaign is a global employee volunteering initiative of Wells Fargo and highlights the company’s commitment to helping build a more inclusive and sustainable future for all. # (PR)
