P33.9M-worth evacuation center inaugurated in Ifugao town

TINOC, Ifugao (PIA) – – A P33.9 million- worth evacuation center was inaugurated recently to boost the disaster response of this fourth class municipality in times of calamity.

The construction of the evacuation center at sitio Mugao in barangay  Impugong was made possible through the Office of Civil Defense-Cordillera in collaboration with the Office of Ifugao Congressman Solomon Chungalao.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – First District Engineering Office implemented the project with the municipal government of Tinoc as a monitoring agency.

DPWH Cordillera Officer-In-Charge  Engineer  Diosdado Lomibao said that the facility’s primary function is to serve as shelter to affected people in times of calamities but it can also be used as a quarantine facility for COVID-19 positive patients, for recreational activities and a venue for meetings and other occasions.

In the same event, an ambulance from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office was also blessed. This will augment the existing resources of the Municipal Health Office especially in transporting patients.

Mayor Samson Benito through Winifredo Guiaoan assured the maximum utilization and maintenance of the evacuation center and the ambulance to better cater to the needs of the people of Tinoc. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
