Safety seal certification, monitoring still on
More business establishments are requesting for inspection from the city’s safety seal composite team to acquire a safety seal certification. As of Feb. 5, there are 445 inquiries and 443 requests for inspection.
The composite team from the Permits and Licensing Division (PLD), City Health Services Office (CHSO), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and Public Information Office (PIO) conducts inspection, under the auspices of the local government and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Safety seal certifications are granted once inspection ascertained that the establishment, a business entity or a government office is compliant with minimum public health protocols, such as the use of facemasks, social distancing or the use of markings and barriers to implement such, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The office, agency or business establishment may voluntarily request for inspection once a self-check is accomplished. The self-check includes having a contact tracing tool, a thermal scanner, a health declaration sheet, and an isolation area for identified symptomatic employees. Handwashing stations, physical barriers and windows for ventilation or air exchange, personnel-in-charge for monitoring, compliance to the disinfection protocol in accordance with DOH memorandum, referral system for medical and psychosocial services are also needed.
There should also be an assigned safety officer who functions to coordinate with support and referral to facilities for confirmed cases; health facilities for critical cases; undertake contract tracing, monitor status of employees quarantined or isolated and implement return to work policies. The safety officer also maintains a storage facility for proper collection and disposal of used facemasks and other infectious wastes.
The city safety seal composite team has conducted 404 inspections with 334 approved and 17 inspections for safety seal certification renewal. There are 53 business establishments scheduled for re-inspection as their requirements may have not been up to standards, or some protocols need to be complied with.
One safety seal was revoked due to violation of safety protocols.
There were 9 establishments referred to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), 3 to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and 10 to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The latest inspections were done along Magsaysay avenue, Gov. Pack, Session road, Abanao street and a university. Inquiries or requests for a safety seal inspection may be done through the Permits and Licensing Division landline (074) 619-3184. – Julie G. Fianza
