Benguet COP lauded by La Trinidad’s Mayor

On a busy afternoon of January 25, 2022, a mother carrying her child was walking in Km 5, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet when a pickpocket snatched her mobile phone prompting her to seek help. The incident alerted PCpl Esden, who at the time is busy managing the traffic flow. PCpl Esden immediately reacted and chased the fleeing suspect and arrested him in the middle of the road.

The incident was posted on social media, gaining positive reactions from the netizens.

Today (February 2, 2022), in a simple ceremony held at the Mayor’s office, Police Corporal Marlon B. Esden accepted a Certificate of Commendation from the Mayor of La Trinidad, Benguet, Hon. Romeo K. Salda.

According to the Certificate of Commendation, PCpl Esden is being commended for his outstanding vigilance and service that led to the capture of a pickpocket on January 25, 2022.

While, in the Facebook post of the Mayor’s Office – La Trinidad, Mayor Salda said that he hoped that the recognition would inspire PCpl Esden’s peers to likewise step up efforts in the municipality’s fight against criminality. (PROCOR-PIO)
