On the PhilSys and the Task Force Build Back Better Updates

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with the members of his Cabinet, approved the P3.52-B additional budget for 2021 to register 20 million more individuals (on top of the 50 million target) to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) by the end of 2021, as presented by Acting Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua.

Republic Act No. 11055, or the PhilSys Act, was signed into law by the Chief Executive to provide a valid proof of identity for all Filipinos and resident aliens. 

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is mandated to lead the PhilSys, with support from the PhilSys Policy and Coordination Board chaired by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and composed of various government agencies.

Also approved are the plans of the Task Force Build Back Better (TFBBB) on flood mitigation and management in Cagayan Province and Marikina City, as presented by Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy Cimatu, who is the concurrent TFBBB Chair, presented the plans of the Task Force.

President Duterte earlier issued Executive Order No. 120, strengthening rehabilitation and recovery efforts in typhoon-hit areas through the creation of the Build Back Better Task Force.  PIA-CAR
