Baguio gets oxygen tanks, regulators donation in Covid fight
The ‘Bayanihan Spirit’ is alive and well in the Summer Capital as the Baguio Eye Doctor Clinic headed by Dr. Mary Arsenia Ngaosi-Mondiguing turned-over100 pieces of 50 lbs. oxygen tanks including regulators, Nov. 16, to the city government led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and other officials to assist its anti-coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) efforts.
The generous donation is in partnership with US-based Apl.de.ap Foundation, JCI Baguio Sunflower, SLU Medicine Batch ’91, Lepanto High School Batch’83, Baguio Eye Laser, Inc., and the Mondiguing-Ngaosi-Lagasca Families.
Dr. Mondiguing said the group came up with the project ‘Hangin Ko, Buhay Ko’ in response to the Covid-19 surge where more oxygen supplies were needed as a great number of patients lined-up at local hospitals.
They chose to support Baguio not only for the excellent leadership of Mayor Magalong but also for its being the referral center for Covid cases in the whole Cordillera Region and even nearby provinces of Region 1, she said.
Dr. Mondiguing said that with the expected ‘saddling’ trend of cases, “our hardworking and honest Mayor has been doing everything to balance the city’s health and economic situations.”
“It is for all of us to be proactive during challenging times like these. We only have one invisible ‘enemy’ which is Covid-19,” she said.
The group also hopes to expand the project to reach other provinces and municipalities in the Cordillera region, Dr. Mondiguing said. — Gaby B. Keith
