BIMP APP has 166,000 registrants so far

27 August 2021 – Around 166,000 individuals in the Summer Capital have already registered in the Baguio In My Pocket (BIMP) digital application and provided with QR (quick response) codes as part of the city’s march towards Smart City status.

These include the city’s barangay officials, government workers, business establishments, and others.

This was disclosed by the Management Information and Technology Division (MITD) under the supervision of Engr. Felipe Puzon, City Mayor’s Office chief of staff, in its presentation during the regular management committee meeting, August 24, at Baguio Convention Center.

BIMP is a collection of applications that aims to promote an e-government ecosystem of hands-free transactions, citizen data management, contact tracing and other essential services for local residents.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong is encouraging those who have not yet registered in the free application to do so since it offers various practical benefits.

These include:  Reporting incidents directly to the concerned agency; purchasing goods online; perform online transactions with the government; book for drivers that can do deliveries for the user; easily deliver social services from the government to the inhabitants; and more.

 Objectives of the BIMP program are to help the city government by promoting the concept of “Bayanihan” among its different barangays and puroks; register all residents and have an accurate record and data of the city’s constituents; and to immediately send public announcements during emergencies.

To create jobs that are open to the community through the concept of market-to-home delivery; to efficiently and immediately extend public service to registered residents  during times of crisis and disasters, are its other objectives.
