HUNDREDS AVAIL OF CSWDO’S ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
BAGUIO CITY – (29 June 2021) – A total of 668 clients have availed of the Assistance In Crisis Situations (AICS) under the city social welfare and development office’s (CSWDO) emergency welfare program from January 1 to June 15 this year amounting to P776,500.
Thus, disclosed CSWDO deputy chief Liza Bulayungan during flag-raising rites at City Hall, June 21, led by Rep. Mark Go, Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan.
She said 408 of their clients also accessed the medical assistance fund of city officials at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center amounting to P486,350 during the period. Some were referred to other partner government and private entities for the provision of support services, she added.
“For the provision of relief assistance, the CSWDO served a total of 6,683 clients. Overall, the department spent P3,948,000 for the purchase of relief goods that were distributed to the recipients this semester,” Bulayungan said.
Meanwhile, she said 49 individuals availed of the Balik Probinsya Assistance Program who went home to their respective provinces for good after their sources of income in the city were affected by the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
“We expect that for the succeeding months, we will be sending more clients to the provinces. Likewise, we will be receiving clients from other regions because of the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa Program or BP2,” she said.
Under the CSWDO’s Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) program, on the other hand, 18 families whose houses were either partially or totally damaged due to disasters, have been served, Bulayungan said.
More often, she said, ESA beneficiaries are those whose houses were damaged by fire.-Gaby B. Keith
