Mountain Province PPO holds 1st Women’s Fun Shoot
CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – (March 23, 2021) – As one of the highlights of the Women’s Month celebration by Mountain Province Police Provincial Office (PPO), policewomen joined in the first ever Women’s Fun Shoot in the province held at the Firing Range in Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province on March 20, 2021.
Gracing the event as the Guest of Honor and speaker is Mountain Province Board Member Joshua Fronda, a gun enthusiast and a member of Foresight 1911 Gun Club, Team Montanyosa.
A ceremonial shoot exhibited by PCOL RUBEN B ANDISO, Mountain Province PPO Provincial Director, Board Member Joshua Fronda, PLTCOL CRISANTE P SADINO, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, and PLTCOL JOSEPH B CAYAT, Deputy Provincial Director for Operations signaled start of the event.
The Fun Shoot was participated by 14 competing teams, composed of five policewomen from the different Municipal Police Stations (MPS), Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and Provincial Headquarters (PHQ) of Mountain Province PPO.
For the team competition, Natonin MPS emerged as the champion followed by Bauko MPS as 1st runner-up, PHQ Team 1 as 2nd runner-up, and PMFC as 3rd runner-up.
Furthermore, Special Awards for Best Lady Shooter/s were given to Natonin MPS and PMFC, while Special Awards for the Women vs Women Challenge were given to Natonin and Bontoc MPS.
The Women’s Fun Shoot, initiated and sponsored by PCOL ANDISO, was geared to change the mindset that policewomen are for office work only.
In his message, PCOL ANDISO emphasized that all policewomen should be adept with their service firearms and should continuously enhance their marksmanship skills. He encouraged everyone to take advantage of opportunities such as this to improve themselves.
Board Member Fronda expressed his appreciation for the conduct of the first ever Fun Shoot for women in the province. In his speech, he also acknowledged the positive impact of the deployment of policewomen in the field, such as in patrols and in triage areas during this pandemic. (PROCOR RPIO)
