SM City Baguio has taken a major step forward in sustainable water management with the installation of its rainwater treatment facility. This innovative system, designed to collect, filter, and purify rainwater, is now fully operational and has been seamlessly integrated into the mall’s sanitation processes. Since its launch in July 2023, the rainwater treatment facility (RTF) has processed over 22,305.2 cubic meters of rainwater.

The impact of the Rainwater Treatment Facility goes beyond the mall itself. By reducing dependence on the city’s water supply, water haulers have been able to serve more households, especially during times of water scarcity affecting the city.

This approach not only conserves local water resources but also lowers the mallโ€™s operational costs, reflecting its commitment to both environmental and financial sustainability.

Through effective water resource management and the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, SM City Baguio sets a new benchmark for how large businesses can positively impact community resource management while ensuring high standards of sanitation and cleanliness.SM City Baguioโ€™s Rainwater Treatment Facility is part of a broader initiative under the SM Green Movement, which encompasses sustainability efforts across all SM Supermalls nationwide.
