“KRISTINE” DISPLACES 31 PERSONS IN BAGUIO
Three days of incessant moderate to heavy rains drenched Baguio City leading to several soil erosions and fallen trees resulting in two partially damaged houses affecting a total of 31 individuals as of 12NN Friday, Oct. 25, 2024.
This was based on the Disaster Operation Management Information and Coordinating System (DROMICS) submitted by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
A total of six families composed of 31 individuals have been aided with food assistance.
While there were families affected, evacuation centers remained unoccupied since displaced individuals sought shelter with their relatives according to CSWDO Department Head Liza Bulayungan.
Affected individuals had damaged properties due to soil erosion occurrences, a collapsed riprap, and one due to fallen trees.
No casualty was reported as severe tropical storm Kristine is about to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Response teams of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chaired by Mayor Benjamin Magalong are on red alert monitoring and acting on typhoon effects reported to the 911 emergency hotline number received at the Smart City Command Center (SC3) serving as Incident Command Post and the Emergency Operations Center located at the CDRRMO.
Most of the reported incidences are on fallen or leaning trees/branches, power outages in some barangays, soil erosion affecting ripraps, and clearing of drainages, and canals among others. – JM Samidan
