Statement of Atty. Paolo Salvosa On the Filing of his COC for Councilor of Baguio City
18 months ago, after years of working in the National Government, my wife and I decided to restart our lives and return to my hometown, Baguio. My goal was simple: work at the University of the Cordilleras, raise the quality of education in the city, provide greater opportunities for our students, and continue our family’s legacy of service.
For months, I worked hard to achieve these goals. Umikot ako ng Baguio – seeking opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with different people and institutions.
As we engaged in more consultations with the grassroots, it became clearer that more needs to be done if to truly help and serve the people of this city.
Today, I am filing my certificate of candidacy for Councilor of Baguio City. Like when we decided to restart our lives and come back home to Baguio, I decided to take a leap of faith because of the conversations I have had with the people of Baguio. Kailangan nila ng kasama, ng kailyan, someone who will represent them in the council – they need someone who will be their voice in government. More has to be done in order to help our kailyan.
I come from a family of educators. Nuong bata pa ako, palagi sinasabi ng Lolo at Lola ko nga importante ti pagtulong “to give back”. For generations, our family name has been equated to education & service in the City of Baguio. As the first Salvosa to seek elective office, ako ay handang makinig, at handang mag-serbisyo kasama ninyo. ###
