The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) anti-illegal drugs operatives have successfully arrested two high-value drug personalities and seized illegal drugs worth PhP2,240,000.00 in separate operations conducted in the province of Benguet on September 12, 2024.
In Barangay Bahong, La Trinidad, authorities apprehended two males, aged 27 and 29, identified as High-Value Individuals (HVIs), during a buy-bust operation. The suspects were arrested after they sold 17 pieces of dried marijuana leaves and stalks in tubular form, totaling approximately 17 kilograms with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP2,040,000.00 to an operative who acted as a poseur buyer.
The operation was successful with the collaborative effort of operatives from the different units of the Benguet Police Provincial Office and the Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET) of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)โBenguet and Baguio.
The inventory and markings of the pieces of evidence were done onsite in the presence of the suspects and witnesses, namely Barangay Captain Christopher Suhat of Bahong, Mr. Bernoulli Binayan of the Department of Justice, and Ms. Jezrel Khate Lapizar as a Media Representative.

Subsequently, the suspects and the seized drugs have been transferred to the custody of PDEA-Baguio and Benguet RSET for further documentation and processing while charges under R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspects.
In addition, as part of ongoing marijuana eradication efforts, Benguet Cops and the Land Transport Interdiction Unit of PDEA-Cordillera Administrative discovered two marijuana plantations. One plantation site planted with 500 Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with a SDP of PhP100,000.00 was discovered in Barangay Sagubo, Kapangan, while the other plantation site also planted with 500 FGMJP with a SDP of PhP100,000.00 was discovered in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan. All discovered FGMJP were uprooted and burned on-site while follow-up operations are being conducted to identify cultivators. (PRO-CAR PIO / File Photo)
