Tricycle drivers nabbed for transporting 1.4M worth of Marijuana

Joint operatives of Mountain Province PPO and PDEA-Mt Province arrested three tricycle drivers caught in possession of illegal drugs during a checkpoint operation on the evening of March 7, 2021 at Sitio Ampawelin, Poblacion, Sadanga,  Mt. Province.

PCOL RUBEN BAWAAN ANDISO, the Acting Provincial Director of Mountain Province PPO, identified the suspects as Jeffrey Mateo De Guzman, 48 years old; Jerry Cunanan Salonga, 36 and Allandrix Sagcal Eligio, 40, all from Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

In his report to the Regional Director, PBGEN R’WIN S PAGKALINAWAN, the trio, coming from the Kalinga area, were flagged down on board a Nissan Urvan with Plate Number NOC 606 in an intel driven checkpoint operation following information tipped regarding alleged transportation of illegal drugs.

The suspects were arrested after a visual search in the vehicle yielded 11 bricks and one tubular shape of alleged marijuana leaves with fruiting tops wrapped with transparent masking tape and weighing about 12 kilograms with an estimated worth of Php.1,440,000.00.

On-site inventory was conducted in the presence of Atty Golda Bagawi from DOJ and Punong Barangay Eliang A Anongos of Poblacion Sadanga, Mt. Province.

The transport vehicle and the arrested suspects are currently under the custody of Sadanga MPS pending charges for Violation of RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.  Meanwhile, the seized illegal drugs were turned over to the Mountain Province Crime Laboratory for proper disposition.
