Mogpog Celebrates Marinduque’s Intangible Cultural Heritage “Tubong” and Language Month
Mogpog, Marinduque – The Local Government Unit of Mogpog has prepared several activities in celebration of Filipino Language Month. LGU Mogpog will have a kick-off by August 2 at the town’s covered court in front of the newly renovated park with the “Moryon” icon. Then by August 16, there would be a cooking demonstration showcasing the genius of Mogpogueños known for their niyubak and adobo sa dilaw. Finally, the penultimate activity for the Filipino month is the Pistang Tubungan, which is a third of the island province’s intangible cultural heritage.
The first activity would exemplify the Marinduque Tagalog which the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino has recognized for the local dialect which was the basis for Filipino. There would be a choral song by the Liga ng Barangay, then an inspirational message from no less than the LGU Chief himself, Mayor Augusto Leo Livelo. After which, there would be a choral recital by the District Schools of Mogpog followed by the musical composition by the non-teaching staff of the Department of Education in Mogpog. The program would not be complete without the energizing number from the Mogpog National Comprehensive High School, folk dance from an ensemble of district schools, “sayawit” by Marinduque Academy, and closed by The Committee Chair for Tourism, Hon. Senen Livelo Jr.
The next activity in celebration of National Language Month is a continuation of the Yubakan at Adobohan traditionally coinciding with Heritage Month and in honor of the town’s patron Saint Isidore Labrador. The demonstration of cooking and “Matatalinong Mogpogueño” would be featuring the nine districts of Mogpog.
The monthlong celebration for Filipinos with the theme “Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya” would be capped by the “Pistang Tubungan” with the unique rendition from the respective districts in Mogpog, school districts, and LGU Mogpog employees. (PR)
