Benguet, Mountain Province rollout COVID-19 vaccination

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, March 6(PIA)–The provinces of Benguet and Mountain Province have rolled out the national COVID-19 vaccination program today.
Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) Chief of Hospital Dr. Meliarazon Dulay is the first vaccinee of the Sinovac vaccine for Benguet as she led health personnel to start the vaccination program as a step to protect the people from Covid.
The initial vaccination at the BeGH was witnessed by Governor Dr. Melchor Diclas, Department of Heath Cordillera Regional Director Rudy Constatino and Department of the Interior and Local Government OIC Araceli San Jose
The province received 1,100 Sinovac vaccine last Friday with 500 allotted to the BeGH. The rest will be distributed to public and private medical facilities in the 13 municipalities.
As reiterated by Constantino, priority to be inoculated are the health workers due to their exposure to patients or infectious materials. Because of their compassion and commitment in taking care of patients, the risk of their getting infected with the virus is high so they need to be protected.
Diclas thanked the personnel of the BeGH and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) for their strong cooperation for the Sinovac vaccination rollout at the hospital.
In Mountain Province, first to be vaccinated of the Sinovac vaccine at the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH) is its Medical Center Chief Dr. Eduardo B. Calpito while Chief Nurse Constance Bandas got the first shot at the Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH).
Both the LHMRH and BoGH are among the priority hospitals identified for the rollout of the vaccination program in the region.
The DOH-CAR delivered 600 vaccines at the LHMRH and 440 at the Provincial Health Office of which 200 vaccines are allotted for BoGH health workers while the 240 will be deployed to the district hospitals of Besao, Paracelis and Barlig, St. Theodore’s Hospital in Sagada and Anastacia Sagel Community Hospital in Natonin.
Meanwhile, the first batch allocation of Sinovac vaccines for the provinces of Abra, Ifugao and Apayao will be delivered on March 7.
The COVID -19 vaccination program in the Cordillera region was launched on Thursday (March 4) at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center. (PIA CAR)
