City donates butterly Christmas lanterns to Tublay

City officials recently approved the donation of the butterfly Christmas lanterns to Tublay, Benguet.

Under Resolution No. 412, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the Committee on Laws, Human Rights and Justice, in its 2nd indorsement dated 11 June 2024, recommended the approval of the request from the city chief executive as part of the efforts to strengthen the relationship among local governments comprising the Metro Baguio, La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay Development Authority (MBLISTTDA).

Earlier, the council considered a letter dated June 4, 2024 from the City Mayor’s Office requesting approval to donate the butterfly Christmas lanterns procured and displayed at the Botanical Garden during the 2023 Christmas season up until February 15, 2024 to the Tublay municipal government in reference to the letter dated December 27, 2023 of Tublay Mayor Armando I. Lauro requesting for use of functioning Christmas lights to be utilised for this year’s Christmas lighting of their municipal hall in line with their preparation for Tublay’s 1st Christmas lighting ceremony highlighted with Christmas light decorations and festivities.

Among the items that were donated by the city include 100 pieces art-butterflies four feet in height with light emitting diode (LED) lights; 50 pieces art-butterflies five feet in height with LED Lights; 92 pieces art-butterflies two feet in height with LED lights: 66 art-butterflies three feet in height with LED lights; 12 pieces art-butterflies seven feet in height with LED lights; 3 pieces art-butterflies eight feet in height with picture spot with an elevated platform with LED lights; 50 pieces art-butterflies with flaps four feet in height with LED lights and 28 pieces art-butterflies one foot in height.

The amount of the donation by the local government to Tublay was pegged at more than PhP2 million.

The council claimed that the city government has a new plan and design for the Christmas at the Botanical Garden spectacle this year that will no longer need the butterfly lanterns.

The body added that the donated lanterns will not only enhance the natural beauty and festive spirit of Tublay but also contribute to the brightening of the Christmas activities of the Tublay community.

Further, the donation will surely foster closer ties of the city government with Tublay and enhance connectivity and mutual development to both parties.

The council pointed out that the gesture not only symbolizes solidarity but also underscores the commitment to enhancing the collective well-being and festive atmosphere within the municipality. Dexter A. See
