City eyes skills training pact with TESDA

The city council passed resolution no. 419, series of 2024, authorizing Mayor Benjamin Magalong, representing the City Government, to enter into a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region (TESDA-CAR) and the 25 beneficiaries for the implementation of the โ€˜Skills Enhancement of Workers through TESDA Training: A Collaboration for Workforce Developmentโ€™ to qualified construction workers of contracting firms in the Summer Capital and city government employees.

The measure disclosed that the august body adopted resolution no. 294, series of 2024, for the immediate implementation of the scholarship program sponsored by the TESDA-CAR  for said beneficiaries.

TESDA-CAR supports partnership arrangements, recognizes the active participation of various stakeholders in technical education and skills development, adheres to developing expertise and enhancing skills, operates adequate facilities and services.

It also believes in the competence of the training center in promoting Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and commits to provide assistance and cooperation on community services.

The city government of Baguio recognizes the importance of a well-developed human resource in propelling area development and growth, the resolution stated.

The approved measure added that the said Tripartite MOA shall be submitted to the local legislature for confirmation. – Gaby B. Keith
