Council okays breakdown of BGHMC medical assistance

 City officials recently approved the breakdown of the 2024 medical assistance for indigent patients (MAIP) at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHM) in the amount of P10.77 million from the 2024 appropriations under the non-office account support to national offices of the local government.

Under Resolution No. 325, series of 2024, city legislators stated that the amount of P10.77 million under the aforesaid fund source shall be allocated to the City Mayor – P1 million, City Vice Mayor – P1 million and the 15 members of the local legislative body who will be allotted P584,666.666 each.

For the current fiscal year, the city government appropriated some P22,485,000 to be used as financial assistance of the BGHMC purposely to be used as medical assistance for indigent patients by concerned city officials.

In a memorandum of agreement entered into by and between the local government and the BGHMC, the amount of P10.770 million from the account earmarked for non-office specifically support to national offices – BGHMC shall be used as medical assistance for indigent patients pursuant to Resolution No. 099, series of 2009 in the amount of P11,715,000.00 was programmed for the purchase of various medical equipment.

Earlier, the city government had been allocating substantial funds for medical assistance to indigent patients being confined at the BGHMC where each city official is given a certain amount that will be charged against this annual allocation being provided for the said purpose.

Further, the city government plans to sustain the provision of funds for city officials to be specifically used for the medical assistance to indigent patients where numerous residents had been benefiting from.
