Repair of Irisan District Health Center

City officials recently requested the Department of Health–Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR), through regional director Dr. Amelita M. Pangilinan, that the PhP1 million originally earmarked for the repair and improvement of the Irisan District Health Center sub-clinic at Purok 15, be utilized instead for the completion and upgrading and repair of the main Irisan District Health Center at Purok 12.

Under Resolution No. 265, series of 2024, city legislators stated that the city government sees it more appropriate to prioritize the project completion and upgrading and repair of the Irisan District Health Center at Purok 12 which is an immediate need to comply with the requirements of a primary care facility.

In a letter dated October 23, 2023, former DOH-CAR regional director Dr. Rio L. Magpantay informed the city government that several infrastructure projects under the agency’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program for the city have been included in the national expenditure program for this year.

Among the health-related projects for the city include the project repair or improvement of the Irisan District Health Center sub-clinic at Purok 15 with a fund allocation of P1 million.

However, a letter dated April 17, 2024 from Acting City Health Officer Dr. Celiaflor C. Brillantes was forwarded to the City Council Committee on Health and Sanitation, Ecology and Environmental Protection requesting that a resolution be adopted by the body to utilize the said allotted fund for the original project completion or upgrading or repair of the Irisan District Health Center at Purok 12.

The body pointed out that the rationale for the change of project title is that the sub-clinic at Purok 15 which was supposed to be upgraded is being used by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in providing essential services in the community and it also houses the senior citizens office.

Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the DOH-CAR for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. – Dexter A. See
