OVER P1.7M WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED, TWO DRUG PERSONALITIES ARRESTED IN KALINGA & APAYAO
In a relentless effort to combat marijuana cultivation and the illegal drug trade, police officers from Kalinga and Apayao Police Provincial Office (PPO) have successfully seized a total of Php1,795,624.00 worth of illegal drugs and apprehended two drug personalities in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted in the provinces of Kalinga and Apayao on May 9–10, 2024.
In Kalinga, a marijuana eradication operation conducted by joint operatives of the 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Rizal and Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and the 103rd IB of the Philippine Army resulted in the discovery of a total of 2,700 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants and 6,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php1,740,000.00.
Further, in Pinukpuk, a search warrant implemented by joint operatives of Pinukpuk MPS, PDEU, Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15), and PDEA-Kalinga resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old female, listed as a high-value individual. The suspect was arrested after operatives confiscated suspected shabu weighing more or less 8 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP54,400.00 in her residence in Barangay Wagud.
Meanwhile, another drug personality was arrested by joint operatives of Pudtol MPS, PDEU, RID, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, CIDG-Kalinga, RMFB15, 1st Apayao PMFC, and PDEA-Apayao after the implementation of a search warrant in Pudtol, Apayao. The suspect, identified as a 38-year-old male listed as a street-level individual, was arrested after operatives found and confiscated suspected shabu weighing more or less 0.18 grams with an SDP of PhP1,224.00 in his residence in Brgy. Poblacion.
The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence have been turned over to the respective arresting units for documentation and proper disposition. Charges for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them. (PRO CORDILLERA PIO / FILE PHOTOS)
