Marinduque Parishioners compel Local Electric Cooperative’s recommendation to Nat’l Power to resolve power supply Deficit

BOAC, Marinduque – The  Diocesan Commission on Public Affairs of the Diocese of Boac implored the National Power Corporation (NPC) to accept the recommendations given by the Marinduque Electric Cooperative (Marelco) to put an end to the power supply deficiency in the island.

According to the said commission’s Resolution No. 2024-01, because of the power interruptions currently experienced in the province of Marinduque, the Diocesan Commission on Public Affairs felt the need to rise and speak up on behalf of the people of Marinduque who suffer and feel the consequence of frequent power interruptions in the province.

The Diocesan Commission on Public Affairs representing the 14 parishes in the Diocese of Boac decided to release an official statement as the issue concerns the parish community. Since the holy week, of March 2024 NPC declared that some of its generating units had broken down which resulted in the reduction of their dependable capability that left Marelco with no option but to schedule load shedding or rotational power interruptions in various areas in the province.

Last April 17m Marelco presented to NPC the following courses of action on how to immediately resolve the current problem: immediate restoration of bogged-down generators; emergency procurement of 2 assemblies of cylinder heads;  processing of additional 2 rental units equivalent to 2,000kw capacity, and allowing excess operation of rental units during peak load.

The Commission also requests and prays that NPC would agree to the recommendation and will take appropriate action thereof. They also asked Marco to establish a concrete plan on how they will have a dependable power supplier to meet the long-term demand of the province.

The resolution has been prepared by its secretary Carmencita Gaan and attested by the director, Rev. Fr. Seven Milambiling concurred by the parish representatives Norma Villar, John Albery Remoroza, Mila Marciano, Denish Manrique, Primo Pamintuan, Randy Nobleza, Angelita Regis, Amapola Rey, Crisostomo Marana, Antonio Grate Jr, Armando Quijano and Rosalia Molbog.
