City mourns death of outstanding barangay official

Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city council resolution no. 243, series of 2024, expressing the city’s deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the late Teresita “Tess” De Guzman, former kagawad and outstanding punong barangay of Pinget, who passed away on April 11, this year, and recognizing her contributions to the community.

As kagawad of Pinget barangay, she demonstrated a deep passion for public service, characterized by dedication that extended beyond the ordinary responsibilities of her position. De Guzman’s exemplary service led to her election as punong barangay where she fostered a spirit of collaboration with the Pinget community, the measure stated.

It added that for over 24 years, she served her barangay with unwavering dedication, leaving an enduring legacy of progress and welfare enhancement while her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Pinget barangay have left an indelible mark that will resonate for generations to come.

“De Guzman’s legacy extends beyond her public service roles. She was also renowned for her expertise in urban gardening, transforming her own home into a model urban garden that inspired many,” the resolution stated.

It stated that the city honors her life and achievements whose memory will endure through her legacy as a dedicated public servant, a nurturing mother, and a devoted spouse. – Gaby B. Keith
