FARMER ARRESTED FOR SELLING ILLEGAL DRUGS; P7.2M WORTH OF MARIJUANA BURNED
A farmer listed as a high-value drug personality was arrested, while a total of Php7,241,888.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-illegal drugs operations initiated by the Kabalyero cops of Benguet Police Provincial Office on April 29, 2024.
Based on the reports submitted to the PRO Cordillera Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the 33-year-old male drug personality was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Benguet PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Kibungan Municipal Police Station in Brgy. Madaymen, Kibungan, Benguet.
According to the same operatives, the suspect sold one heat-sealed plastic transparent sachet weighing 1.08 grams to an operative who acted as a poseur buyer, while another plastic sachet weighing 5.08 grams was confiscated from his possession.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated illegal drugs weighing more or less 6.16 grams with a total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php41,888.00 were brought to PDEU for proper documentation and disposition, while charges for violation of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being filed against the suspect.
Simultaneously, on the same day, anti-illegal drugs operatives of Benguet PPO burned 60,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks with fruiting tops with an SDP of Php7,200,000.00 which they discovered in Sitio Batadang, Tacadang, Kibungan while on a marijuana eradication operation.
As of press time, operatives are conducting a thorough investigation to identify possible marijuana cultivators, while continuous information operations on the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the PNP and community engagement are being conducted. (PR)
