Choreographer of cultural dance troop recognized

City officials recently congratulated and commended Jail Officer 1 (JO1) Kurt Alalag for his exemplary accomplishment as the choreographer of the award-winning cultural dance troop Saeng Ya Kasay of the University of the Cordillera (UC) that captured the first place during the 2023 and 2024 Panagbenga Cultural Dance Contest.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the local government reaffirms its commitment in supporting and promoting sports, culture and the arts within the community and recognizes their importance in fostering unity, pride and identity among its people.

The council added that the local government recognizes the exceptional dedication, talent and contributions of its public servants to the cultural and sporting enrichment of the city through various activities.

Earlier, JO1 Kurt Alalag, in addition to his official functions, also served as the sports and cultural officer of the Baguio City Jail – Male Dormitory.

He demonstrated selfish dedication and exemplary accomplishment as the choreographer of the Saeng Ya Kasay cultural dance troop during the 2023 and 2024 Panagbenga Cultural Dance Contests.

Under his leadership and guidance as choreographer, the UC Saeng Ya Kasay cultural dance troop emerged as the champion for both years showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the city through their outstanding performances.

The council stipulated that JO1 Alalag’s commitment to excellence, creativity and artistic expression, coupled with his leadership in sports and cultural activities within the jail community, has brought honor and recognition to the city.

The council emphasized that the local government extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude and celebrates with JO! Alalag for his outstanding contributions to the cultural vibrancy and sporting excellence of the Panagbenga festival.

Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to JO1 Alalag, the Baguio City Jail – Male Dormitory and the UC administration for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. – Dexter A. See
