GSO realizing benefits of electronic procurement system

The City General Services Office reported success in the implementation of the Electronic Procurement System after six years of utilization in purchasing of goods and services.

Assistant GSO Officer Ma. Guadalupe Della said that with EPS, the Asset and Property Management Office (APMO) under the GSO has been able to manage and track the requests for consolidated and purchased products worth from different offices in the city government.

She said hundreds of millions peso worth of funds are being provided under the Annual Procurement Plan to ensure the implementation and operationalization of the city governmentโ€™s programs, projects and activities (PPAs) and the 18 different departments of the city government create their detailed procurement plans and transfer them to the GSO APMO.

Similar to popular online shopping platforms, EPS is operated by supply officers from each department to submit their purchase requests, enabling the Asset and Property Management Office (APMO) to monitor and manage inventory records seamlessly.

From the tiniest paper clip up to huge machinery or equipment, the APMO is responsible for probing, tracking, inspections, and inventory of all items released or consolidated to different offices.

Further, an annual inventory check on equipment that is a government issue is conducted with the whole city government office employees and officials. Then the office renders an annual inventory report.

With the advancement of the EPS, another division of the GSO, the Supply and Property Management Division (SPMD) is able to work closely with end users, suppliers, and other stakeholders to process their requests thereby speeding up the request procedure. – Iris Shantel Gutierrez- UB intern/apr
