BCPO assures safety of residents, tourists

The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) assured that the City of Pines will always be a safe and peaceful haven for the residents and tourists alike.
In a report, the BCPO claimed that despite the huge volume of tourists flocking to the city after the easing up of community quarantine restrictions and opening up of borders, the crime volume recorded in the city decreased by 529 cases or 47.53 percent comparing the periods January 1, 2018 to October 31, 2019 and January 1, 2023 to October 31, 2023.
For index crimes, the local police force noted a decrease of 201 incidents or 47 percent from 431 crimes recorded from the previous period to 230 crimes that were reported during the present reckoning period.
On the other hand, for non-index crimes, the BCPO reported a decrease of 324 incidents or 48 percent from 682 crimes during the previous period to only 358 incidents during the present reckoning period.
According to the report, the most prevalent crimes are physical injuries, theft and rape.
However, the BCPO said that traffic incidents increased by 20 crimes or 3 percent from 787 during the previous period to 807 incidents during the present reckoning period. – Dexter A. See
