Thomas F. Picaña, newly installed President of the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC)
BAGUIO CITY – (January 16, 2024) Thomas F. Picaña, (Publisher / EIC of Amianan Balita Ngayon) was formally declared as president after the annual poll of the Baguio Correspondent Broadcasters Club on January 16, 2024, at the Gerardo Verzosa building, Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), South Drive Office.
BCBC COMELEC Chairman Miguelito Velarde Jr. (Z-Radio) with canvassing board Jhong Munar (Radyo Pilipinas –Baguio) and Jordan Tablac (Bombo Radyo-Baguio) led the raising of the hand of the newly elected BCBC president Thomas Picana.
Also elected as new officers are Dexter See (Baguio Herald Express) as Vice-President for Print; Dionisio Dennis (DZWT) as VP for Radio; Freddie Rulloda (Net 25) as VP for TV; Eufeldion “PIGEON” Lobien (Amianan Balita Ngayon) as Secretary; Ma. Elena Catajan (ABN) as Treasurer and Mauricio Victa (Rappler) as Auditor.
Among the elected Board of Directors are Roderick Osis, freelance local and national media correspondent; Harley Palangchao of Baguio Midland Courier; Frank Cimatu of Rappler; and Aldwin Joseph Quitasol of Daily Tribune, and immediate past president Joseph Cabanas of Radyo Pilipinas – Baguio will join them as an ex-officio member.
In a message of elect president Picaña, “Una, pasalamatan natin ang nasa itaas, pangalawa nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng miyembro ng BCBC na nag participate sa election na ito ibig sabihin nun ay nananatiling matibay at nagkakaisa tayo sa organisasyon at tungkol naman sa mga hindi nakaboto at hindi nakadalo ay magkakasama pa rin tayo pero kailangan pa rin natin magbayad ng membership fee at ang annual dues, dahil kailangan rin natin magkaroon ng pondo ang organisasyon na magagamit sa mga projects at programa ng BCBC tulad ng nalalapit na Lucky Summer Visitor activities natin (LSV 2024), nagpapasalamat ako dahil maraming bumoto at nagbayad ng membership na P500 sana tuloy-tuloy na ito at wish ko rin na lumaki pa ang membership fee natin in the coming years para sa ganun ay may pondo ang BCBC at may pagkukunan tayong funds para sa mga kasama natin pwede tulungan lalo na sa mga may sakit ito ay para sa mga member lang ng BCBC ang makikinabang sa mga funds na makukuha natin,”
“Malaking pasasalamat rin sa nag sponsor ng venue natin ngayon ang BENECO sa pamumuno ni Sir GM Mel Licoben ganun rin sa kanyang mga katuwang na sina Atty Delmar Cariño at Laarni Sibayan-Ilagan, na laging maaasahan sa mga ganitong pagkakataon na activities ng BCBC election ay nananatili ang kanilang pagsuporta sa organisasyon natin,” Picaña concluded
