Barangay district coordinators, secretaries to be chosed

A joint advisory, Jan. 2, was issued by Liga ng mga Barangay-Baguio chapter and Ex-Officio Councilor Rocky Aliping and City Mayor’s Office-Special Services Division (CMO-SSD) officer-in-charge Michelle Agbuya to the city’s punong barangays (PBs) requesting them to conduct a special meeting with their respective districts to select and recommend their barangay district coordinator (BDC), barangay vice district coordinator (BVDC) and barangay district secretary (BDS) for the term 2024 to 2025.

The recommendations contained in a duly approved district resolution shall be submitted on or before Jan. 15, this year, to the CMO-SSD for the facilitation of their appointments by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.

Meanwhile, the Mayor also issued, Jan. 2, memorandum no. 1, series of 2024, to all the city’s PBs informing them of the official duties and functions of a BDC, BVDC and BDS.

For a BDC, these include: Conduct and preside over assemblies, regular meetings and other meetings of punong barangays (PBs) and other barangay officials in the district; coordinate activities of the barangays within the district and furnish reports to the CMO-SSD; lead the PBs in the district in the implementation and monitoring of their projects, programs and activities; and more.

For a BVDC, these are: Assist the BDC in the conduct of assemblies, regular meetings and other meetings of barangay officials in the district; preside in such assemblies or meetings in the district whenever the BDC is not available; attend and participate in other assemblies and meetings of barangay officials in the district on behalf of the BDC when the latter is unavailable; and others. For a BDS, these include: Attend all assemblies, regular meetings, and other meetings of the district and properly document the proceedings; submit a quarterly report to the CMO-SSD and furnish a copy to  the LIga ng mga Barangay-Baguio chapter of all activities of the district; prepare and submit minutes of assemblies, regular meetings and other meetings in the district whenever deemed necessary by the BDC/BDVC. – Gaby B.
