CBAO, GSO told to study adopt-a-waiting-shed project

City officials recently tasked the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) and the City General Services Office (GSO) to study the feasibility of institutionalizing the Adopt-a-Waiting-Shed Project in the city.

Under Resolution No. 697, series of 2023, local legislators stated that one way of ensuring the preservation and protection of waiting sheds in the different parts of the city is to invite private individuals or groups of persons to help in maintaining the existing and future waiting sheds in various parts of the city through the Adopt-a-Waiting-Shed Project that will allow the local government to have partners in maintaining and beautifying the waiting sheds.

Further, the council directed the said offices to formulate the guidelines for the identification of the waiting shed, the responsibilities of the adopting parties, and the incentives to be given to the individuals and groups.

Among the proposed guidelines to be considered by the said offices include that the adopting party shall be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the waiting shed and its surroundings; a signage or sign board indicating the name of the adopting party may be set up in their respective areas; the CBAO and GSO shall approve any remodeling of the waiting shed that was adopted; prospective adopting parties shall have a  good track record and an award, incentive and recognition for the Search for the Best Adopt A Waiting Shed shall be made in an appropriate occasion.

During the Scout Official for a Day (SOFAD) session held on October 23, 2023, the SOFAD Council adopted the proposal of SOFAD Councilor Anna Nicole Bautista that tasked the CGSO and CBAO to study the feasibility of institutionalizing the Adopt-a-Waiting-Shed Project in the city.

The council stipulated that several waiting sheds in the different city barangays are either dilapidated, dirty, vandalized, or are full of unnecessary posters and advertisements that is considered an eye sore to the community and affects the overall image of the city as clean and green.

The body underscored that the cityโ€™s barangays actually need assistance to help them effectively and efficiently maintain the waiting sheds in their jurisdiction so that they will become more pleasing and attractive for residents and visitors to utilize. – Dexter A. See
