Baguio Aqua Athletes get recognition
City officials recently commended and congratulated the Baguio aqua athletes who emerged victorious in the National Age Group Aquathlon held at Veromosa Sports Hubin Cavite last October 15, 2023.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that it is with great pride and joy that the local government and the people confer the appropriate commendation to the local aqua athletes for emerging victorious in the recently concluded National Age Group Aquathlon.
Under the pertinent provisions of Ordinance No. 47, series of 2021 or the City Sports Code, aquathlon is recognized as a sporting event where the city emphasizes strong support to local athletes and their coaches.
Earlier, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), together with the Triathlon Association of the Philippines, conducted the National Age Group Aquathlon at the Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite last October 15, 2023.
Baguio-based aqua athletes represented the city in the said competition and clinched medals in their respective age category.
Among the local aqua athletes who made the city proud and treasured in the field of aquathlon include Athena Masadao – second place in the 7-8 girls category; Jovie Yzelle Calisog – first place in the 9-10 girls category; Dhana Victoria Seda-Lomboy – first place in the 16-19 women’s category; Mariafe Co – second place in the age 30-39 women’s category; Marissa Mars Cayowet – first place in the age 40-49 women’s category; April Eslay – second place – second place in the 40-49 women’s category; Kalayaan Manialung – first place in the age 30-39 men’s category and Ian Dino Masadao – third place in the PARA PT.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the aqua athletes and the Office for City Administration for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action as well as for the processing of their incentives after due evaluation of submitted documents in compliance to the City Sports Code. – Dexter A.
