Scout Officials for a Day (SOFAD) take over the reins of City Hall on Monday, Oct. 23

Boy and Girl Scouts from the city’s elementary and secondary schools take over city hall positions on Monday, Oct. 23, with office assignments designated to them during the regular flag ceremony.

According to Jennifer Bugtong, Girl Scout of the Philippines Baguio Executive Officer, the youthful leaders underwent stringent screening procedures at their head offices, with written examinations and interviews, and after being selected were given personality development and leadership trainings. 

The scout officials were given thorough orientation on the performance of duties in offices entrusted to them; Scout Valerie Vaughn Tablac of the University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS) who unseats Congressman Marquez Go for a day; and Scout Mary Grace Lamwas of Irisan National High School (INHS) who takes on the responsibilities of Mayor Benjamin Magalong just for Monday.

City Secretary Atty. Brenner Bengwayan gave orientation lectures on parliamentary procedures to those holding legislative positions; notably the Scout Vice-Mayor and Scout Councilors, who shall conduct a council session in the afternoon of Oct. 23. 

Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan is replaced for a day by Scout Blezz Lozano of Baguio City National High School (BCNHS); while Councilor Benny Bomogao is unseated by Scout Ziara Juliana Therese Gamboa from the University of Baguio High School (UBHS).  Other BCNHS students Scout Anna Nicole Bautista replaces Councilor Jose Molintas, and Scout Axl Alaister Siblag holds the committee chaired by Councilor Arthur Allad-iw.

Scout Jhoanna Mae Poquiz (BCNHS) takes the chair of Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, as Scout Sophia Alessia Mari Valencia (UBSHS) replaces Councilor Leandro Yangot, Jr., and Scout Princess Peralta of Don Bosco High School (DBHS) unseats Councilor Isabelo Cosalan, Jr.

Scout Kean Angelo Tictic (BCNHS) takes the position of Councilor Ma. Mylen Victoria Yaranon-Pangan, Scout Fritzie Nicole Mallari (BCHNS) unseats Councilor Elmer Datuin and Scout Danielle Abarientos (UBSHS) works as Councilor Peter  Fianza for the day.

Scout Raven Sobremonte of Fort del Pilar National High School holds the position of Councilor Vladimir Cayabas, Scout Zoie Zyrille Vesagas (BCNHS) works as Councilor Fred Bagbagen for a day. 

Scout Justin Cheryll Alcantara (UBHS) holds the position of Councilor Lilia Farinas, while Scout Ashanti June Pongod (BCNHS) works as Councilor Michael Lawana; Scout Yana  Daplian (PCNHS) replaces Councilor Levy Lloyd Orcales in his committee, and Scout Raymund Gabriel Lerio (BCNHS) replaces Councilor Maximo Edwin for Monday only. 

Scout Gerdy Yannis Gomeng-ad of Dona Aurora National High School takes over the position of Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Soraya T. Faculo, Ph.D.; and Scout Marvienn Dumpit (BCNHS) unseats Atty. Brenner Bengwayan as City Secretary. 

Elementary leaders are also designated in the different offices.

Scout Jomanah Marynette Dait of Baguio SPED Center takes care of Fredda Jimenez’ position as City Accountant; Scout Dylan Miel Lopez of Baguio Central School (BCS) is City Administrator vice Engr. Bonifacio dela Pena; and Scout Zyrene Khei Paraan of Dona Aurora Bueno Elementary School takes over Normita Ramon’s position as City Assessor. 

Scout Dwight Juan Sapdoy of Pinget ES. takes over Atty. Leticia Clemente’s position as City Budget Officer; Scout Khelsy Claire Rillera of Baguio Central School is Building Officer Architect Johnny Degay for a day; while Jetro Lorenz Gudaren of Lucban ES is City Engineer vice Engr. Edgar Victorio Olpindo.

Scout Ma. Pia Francesca Lumicao of BCS works as head of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) vice Atty. Rhenan Diwas; Scout Rams Zwayzi Gomeng-ad of Don Mariano Marcos ES (DMMES) unseats General Services Officer Eugene Buyucan; Scout Briana Marheanne Fonite (BCS) takes on the responsibilities of City Health Services Officer In-charge Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes for the day; 

Scout Reighner James Basilio of Josefa Carino ES (JCES) works as City Human Resources Management Officer vice Atty. Augustin Laban III; Scout Wylie May Moling of Gibraltar ES replaces City Disaster and Risk Reduction Manager Officer Louie Glenn Lardizabal. 

Scout Patrick Jefferson Soriano (JCES) works as City Legal Officer vice Atty. Althea Rosanna Alberto for a day; Scout Alyza Faith Sagampod (DMMES) replaces Executive Assistant V Samantha Jean Hamada for a day; Scout Gustav Equinio of Loakan ES takes on the responsibilities of Ar. Donna Rillera-Tabangin of the City Planning Development and Sustainability Office (CPDSO).

Scout Francesse Dominique DG Queroljico of Rizal ES replaces Civil Registrar Luz Perez for a day; Scout Cedric Laurence Ofiaza of BCS unseats Liza Bulayungan head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO); 

Scout Jaereese Manipon of Lucban ES takes care of the responsibilities of Alex Cabarrubias as City Treasurer; and Scout Ishaan Lumbiag of Rizal ES is head of the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office, vice Dr. Silardo Bested.                

The ceremonies on Monday include the sashing of the scout officials by their parents and officials and ushering to their place of responsibility.
