BCPO Empowers Barangay Peacekeepers

As an added force of BAGUIO’s FINEST in the overall maintenance of peace and order particularly this election period, fifty members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) participated in the 3-day training initiated by Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) in partnership with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office held at the CDRRMO Building, Lower Rock Quarry, Baguio City from August 29, to 31, 2023.

The 3-day training aimed to build an effective community policing system through community collaboration and to foster a sense of camaraderie and shared responsibility in the barangay for peace and order.

Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) are community-based organizations composed of volunteers who are trained to respond to various situations that may threaten the safety and security of the community.

“The strength of our communities lies in our unity and I urge all the participants to engage actively in the discussions, exchange ideas, and build lasting connections. Let us learn from each other’s experiences, successes, and even mistakes, for it is through collective learning that we can create a safer and more harmonious environment for all,”

This was the message of BCPO City Director PCOL FRANCISCO B. BULWAYAN JR. read by BCPO Deputy City Director Administration (DCDA) PLTCOL BALDWIN F. SOKOKEN JR., during the opening ceremony. He also cited the importance of equipping and empowering BPATs through proper and continuous training and cooperation, as they are the ones in charge of keeping the peace in their respective barangay.

“Dagijay maadal yu ditoy ket mausar yu nga mangtulong iti umili ken ti kapulisan nga mangpatalinaed iti linak ken kapya iti barangay kasi at the end of the day, datayo met lang ti imuna nga pagkamangan ti kabarangay nangruna nu tiempo ti kalamidad krimen ken daduma nga emergency nga situasyon,” DCDA added. ### (BCPO-PIO / PR)
