Council wants BWD to prioritize water service in city barangays
City officials earnestly requested the Baguio Water District (BWD) to prioritize providing water service connections to barangays without water connections in the city.
Under Resolution No. 386, series of 2023, local legislators stated that there are some barangays in the city that still have no connections with the water district despite several requests for their water service connections.
The council claims that the State promotes a just and dynamic social order that will ensure the prosperity and independence of the nation and free the people from poverty through policies that provide adequate social services, promote full employment, a rising standard of living, and an improved quality of life for all.
Earlier, the BWD was created by virtue of Resolution No. 37-75 and is a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) that provides water supply in the city.
Further, the BWD as a primary service provider, especially of a basic need, is expected to deliver its services in every household efficiently and address issues and concerns arising from its services that affects the immediate of such desired service from the district.
The council stipulated that several concerns were received by the city government from the consumers like unaddressed complaints and unanswered calls and messages despite regularly paying their water bills.
For his part, BWD general manager Engr. Salvador M. Royeca explained that the water district is closely coordinating with the barangays that are not yet provided with water service connections to ascertain the viability of having them provided with the water service connections.
He assured the consumers that all their complaints are being attended by the BWD personnel and called on them to be patient in awaiting the action that will be taken because of the numerous complaints being received daily.
