PROCOR JOINS THE 36TH CORDILLERA MONTH CELEBRATION

PBGEN PATRICK JOSEPH ALLAN,  PROCOR Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA), joins the 36th Cordillera Month Celebration kickoff program held at the Cardinals Gym in the University of Baguio, General Luna Road,  Baguio City, on July 1, 2023.

Other key personalities present during the event were Hon. Benjamin Magalong, Mayor of Baguio City; Hon. Elias Bulut Jr., Governor of Apayao; Atty. Atanacio Addog, Director of the National Commission on Indigenous People Cordillera Administrative Region (NCIP-CAR); Dr. Donnavila Marie Panday of the University of Baguio; representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government Cordillera (DILG-CAR); other partner agencies and civil society organizations (CSOs) from the different provinces of the Cordillera.

To officially mark the opening of the said celebration, a beating of the original unity gong was performed, followed by a Cordilleran community dance, which was participated in by all the attendees.

With the theme “Celebrating One, Resilient, Diverse, and Inclusive Journey toward Regional Autonomy”, Cordillera Month is being celebrated annually to showcase the rich culture of the Cordillera and to show the significance of camaraderie, unity, and preserving the natural resources of the region.

The Cordillera Administrative Region was created by Executive Order No. 220, signed by then-President Corazon Aquino on July 15, 1987. This effectively unified the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Baguio City into one region. (PROCOR-PIO / File Photos)
