Moving the Youth Towards Peace and Development was conducted through an initiative with Mt. Province Police Provincial Office.

A three-day Moving the Youth Towards Peace and Development (MYPD) was successfully conducted at the Immaculate Heart High School (IHHS) in Poblacion, Natonin, MountProvince, from May 23 to May 25, 2023.

The activity was initiated by the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office (PPO) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Natonin, the Department of Education (DepEd) Mountain Province, teachers from the IHHS, members of the Spreading Illumination and Love to Empower the World Suicide Prevention Awareness Group ( SILEW SPAG), and the Regional Medical and Dental Unit (RMDU).

As part of the three-day activity, the police officers and other volunteers lectured the students on Youth Resiliency in Post Pandemic Leadership, Responsible use of Social Media Knowing the Enemy, Mental Health,  Life Skills, Positive Assertiveness, and Decision Making, and Basic First Aid.

As the highlights of the activity, the students have undergone team-building activities through collaborative games, self-reflection, value formation, and Big Brothers.

Also, the police officers conducted a separate lecture to the parents of the students on the topics of languages of love and mental health.

In total, 34 Grade 9 and Grade 10 students at IHHS actively participated in the said activity.

The activity aims to empower the youth as agents of peace capable of preventing conflicts, sustaining peace, and enacting tangible change within the community. (PROCOR-PIO /File photos)
