Local swimmer commended anew

City officials recently congratulated and commended Castille Shiraz B. Gulian for winning the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) Aquatic Club A-B-C age invitational swimming championships at Bosay Resort, Antipolo city, Rizal last February 4, 2023.              

In a resolution authored by Councilor Arthur Allad-iw, local legislators maintained that Gulian’s recent achievement yet again proves that Baguio city is one of the homes of world-class athletes thereby giving pride and honor to the city as the education center of the north through the years.       

The Swim Leg Philippines (FLP) in cooperation with the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) spearheaded the conduct of the Manila Swim Series 1 at the Bosay Resort, Antipolo City, Rizal last February 4, 2023.   

This event was recognized by the FESSAP and served as one of the qualifying meets for the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Universiade – School Summer Games in Chengdu, China from July 28 to August 8, 2023.

Gulian, an elementary student of the University of Baguio (UB) Laboratory Elementary School, won as the Most Outstanding Swimmer for Class A-B division during the said prestigious competition.        

Further, she won gold medals in 50 meters freestyle, 50 meters backstroke, 50 meters breaststroke and 50 meters butterfly.             

The council pointed out that Gulian’s recent achievement will surely serve as inspiration and motivation for the youth and the same is worthy of emulation for local athletes to continue to shine in local, regional, national and international sports competitions. By Dexter A. See
