White Strawberry is the Sweetest while Sweet Charlie is the Biggest Strawberry winner
La Trinidad, Benguet – (March 11, 2023) The white strawberry was declared as the sweetest in the biggest and sweetest strawberry contest held at the La Trinidad Municipal Tourism ground on March 11, 2023, as part of the Strawberry Festival 2023 with the theme “A Festival for Recovery: Building a Brighter Future from Adversities”
To determine the sweetness of the strawberry and to know if the sugar content is high it means it is sweet so they used the Refractometer device for the measurement of the sugar content.
Forty-two participants from different strawberry farms in La Trinidad joined in the Biggest and Sweetest Strawberry contest.

For the first place winner of sweetest Strawberry 2023 and recorded 12.13 the variety is white strawberry goes to contestant #13 Franjon Langbis receiving a P6000 cash prize and certificate.
The First Place winner for the Biggest Strawberry 2023 and recorded weight is 412 grams goes to Contestant #2 from Barangay Pico Raymond Eycho receiving a P6,000 cash prize and a certificate.
Each of the participants will receive P2,000 with a certificate.
Municipal Mayor Romeo K. Salda said, “Thank you for representing your farm, and let’s see which barangay will raise the sweetest and biggest strawberries, this activity is continuous because of a municipal ordinance.
“We have now a snow-white variety which is a new variety that arrived in 2018, there is a business trip from China and they give the two packs of snow-white strawberries and two packs of milkweed variety.
“We are now promoting a snow white variety and this will be the highlight on March 18 for Strawberry Fest Cake which is a combination of White strawberry and Red Strawberry and it will be called Twin Strawberry Cake,” Salda concluded.
