Wellness and longevity summit set in March

A wellness and longevity summit with the theme, “Live Healthier, Live Happier, Live Longer” is set to be celebrated next month in Baguio City.

The summit is scheduled to open on March 27 at the Baguio Convention Center and the culminating will be on April 1.

Danilo Quinto, event organizer of the summit said eight highly respected and well-known naturopaths, holistic healers and doctors of integrative medicine will conduct a whole day workshop on various holistic and traditional, alternative health care systems “to reset, restore, rejuvenate and maintain our health and prevent a host of chronic illnesses.”

The opening salvo on March 27, several wellness promoting activities are lined up daily including wellness walks, biking events, forest bathing and meditation/yoga walks, chi gong and zumba demonstrations, as well as jump rope competition and tutorials by the Jump Rope Manila and Lukso Baguio at the Malcolm Square.

Quinto said the events will empower and inspire residents of Baguio and neighboring municipalities in the Cordillera to become more aware and better informed of the several, easy to apply ways of preventing physical, mental and social illnesses while restoring and maintaining health and wellbeing using natural, holistic alternative health care therapies as complementary to regular medical systems.

Health talks are also included in the activities with resource lecturers including Dr. Annabelle Pabiona De Guzman, the director of the Department of Health – Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care whose mandate is to encourage alternative health care systems.

Other resource lecturers include Dr. Elizabeth Acosta Micaller – founder the Philippine Institute of Naturopathy Science; Dr. Marian Alonzo – Medical Director of the Farm at San Benito; Dr. Ferdinand Brawner – Pain Management expert; Dr. Susana Balingit – Plant-based Food as Medicine; Dr. Celine Barotil – Integrative Medicine and Family Health; Dr. Risa Shanti Lim – Holistic Healer at Orissa Healing Center.

Resource lecturers also include Dr. Anna Jimenez – president of the Manila Hospitals Association; Mr. Danny Quinto –  a fitness and nutrition coach together with Ms. Gelie dela Pena – a meditation and yoga instructor. 

The summit will also host the exposition of several Food and Drugs Administration licensed plant-based companies to showcase their natural health products.
