PEOPLE’S COUNCIL INSTITUTIONALIZATION MEETING

The city government held the People’s Institutionalization Meeting at the Baguio city hall multipurpose hall last February 8, 2023. The said meeting was organized by the City Mayor and City Planning and Development Office. Representatives from various sectors in Baguio attended the meeting. Topics such as the presentation on the institutionalization of a People’s Council under DILG Memorandum Circular No. 20221-054, discussion on the documentary requirements needed, the process of Civil Society Organization (CSO) Accreditation and the election of the set of officers.

Under Article 62, Rule XII of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Local Government Code of 1991 (RA 7160), the LGUs are mandated to promote the establishment and operation of Non-Government Organizations, People’s Organizations, and the private sectors to make them active partners in the pursuit of the local autonomy, and to directly involved them in planning and implementation of programs and projects in the LGUs.
