Mayor warns Kennon Road communities on health protocol breach
BAGUIO CITY (5 February 2021) – Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong issued a stern warning to communities along Kennon Road to follow minimum health protocols specifically wearing of face mask and face shield and observe physical distancing whenever going out of their homes.
“Otherwise, I will be compelled to require travelers from these communities to present swab test results before they enter the City,” the mayor warned.
This was prompted by a personal observation by the Mayor when he passed thru Kennon Road last February 4 where he saw and took pictures of residents not wearing face masks and violating distancing protocols.
The Mayor was furious that despite intensified reminders for the public to wear face mask and face shield before going out of homes, a lot of people are still being seen not wearing protective face shield while others are improperly wearing such.
City Ordinance No. 45, series of 2020 imposes a fine of P1,000 for the first offense of not wearing a facemask while City Ordinance No. 46, series of 2020 imposes physical distancing in all activities in the City of Baguio with a fine of P500 for the first offense.
Meanwhile, Executive Order No. 185 series of 2020 requires the use of face shield – FULL COVERAGE – on top of face mask, at all times, whenever going out of home in consonance with IATF-EID Resolution No. 88, series of 2020.
These protocols are being implemented to help stop the spread of COVID-19 along with implementation of community quarantine. – Jessa Samidan
