Baguio family commended for outstanding performances in triathlon events

City officials recognized and commended the Ramos family who represented the city in various triathlon races and events for their outstanding achievements and performances.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the city government expresses honor and pride for the recognition bestowed by the local, regional, national and international sports bodies to the Ramos family.

Further, the city government had on numerous occasions, acknowledged, recognized and given commendations to outstanding Baguio athletes and coaches for their overwhelming accomplishments of bringing home pride, honor and glory to the city and country by participating, representing and winning in various sporting competitions and events, locally and internationally.

Earlier, Resolution No. 107, series of 2003, was passed where the city adheres to pledge commitments to character and designate the city as a Character City and to formally launch a city-wide initiative to encourage character-building in schools, businesses, churches, local government, media, community groups, and families and urge the leaders of each of the said jurisdictions to support and contribute to the noble endeavor.

The International Association of Character Cities defines a Character City as a place having strong families that are healthy, harmonious and united.

The council disclosed that an Ibaloi family of triathletes from the city, the Ramos family, composed of the spouses Jet Carl Langpuyas Ramos and Lou Ann Hamada-Ramos, along with their three sons, Josh, Dash Carl and Euan Arrow, are closely knit and enjoy doing things together as a team that actively engages in community, civic and faith activities related to sports that contribute to their progress and development, thus, are looked up to as role models in the community.

Triathlon is a multisport race that involves swimming, biking and running across long distances. It is extremely rigorous as it requires mastery of 3 different types of sports that requires competitors to be in the best shape possessing perseverance and endurance while being pushed to the extreme.

The council stipulated that the Ramos family had been bestowing pride and glory to the city and country by being victorious in different national and international sanctioned triathlon races and events with many noteworthy achievements, awards and winnings.

According to the body, the exceptional performances of the Ramos family composed of world class triathletes serve as an inspiration to their fellow citizens who aspire to excel and bring national and international recognition to the city and the country.

The council asserted that the remarkable performances of the said triathletes have portrayed unquestionable discipline and sports excellence perfected through the years of training and dedication that is worthy of emulation by all over the country people, especially the youth. – Dexter A. See
